I went into /sbbs/repo/src/sbbs3/gtkmonitor and ran make install SYMLINK=1

    I get the following error:

make: *** No rule to make target 'install'. Stop.

I am guessing missing a command

The "SYMLINK=1" is only for use when the install/GNUmakefile, and only during initial install. Never again and not with any other GNUmakefile.

Running 'make gtkutils' in the src/sbbs3 directory will make all the gtk* utilities. You don't need to go into each gtk* subdirectory and run a make command-line.

I used to use gtkmonitor but started having trouble with it recently. I started using umonitor instead. umonitor is text-based, but it has the same functionality as gtmkonitor.

    Do you have x-windows running?

Did you install all the pre-requisites, as listed here:

    http://wiki.synchro.net/install:nix:prerequisites

In particular, the GTK and Glade stuff...
